Position Summary:

This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of the team at Pablo Center and will include projects and tasks spanning varying departments and areas. The duties are broad and often of a complex and confidential nature; and all tasks must be performed with a wide latitude for exercising common sense, thoughtful, and impartial discretion, and judgment.

Primary role is to program performative, “presents” events in Pablo Center and work with the Junior Talent Buyer to build full seasons worth of shows. The Senior Talent Buyer is responsible for creating a strong network of connections with agents and promoters to strengthen current and future bookings at Pablo Center.  

This position reports to the Director of Business Operations.


Schedule & Wages:

This full-time position averages 40 hours per week annually. Based on the fluid nature of programming in a performing arts venue, some weeks will be close to full-time, and some weeks will have minimal activity. The work schedule will primarily be Monday – Friday, however some nights and weekend hours may be necessary given the nature of the live event industry. Wages will be commensurate with experience. 


Specific Duties Include: 

  • Work with high level promoters and agents to secure “presents” shows of all kinds. 

  • Build offers and negotiate deal terms with artist/event representation.

  • Primarily responsible for “Pablo Presents” shows, leaving rentals, co-promotions and affiliate shows to the Junior Talent Buyer.

  • Form new connections with agents and promoters to maintain high level bookings. 

  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with artists, artist representation, local event curators, and members of the local business and municipal communities. 

  • Work with Junior Talent Buyer to create a plan for upcoming seasons of shows. 

  • Assist in providing necessary information for the P&L/budget and enters data as needed. 

  • Maintain effective communication with all departments (production, marketing, box office, etc.) on logistics of confirmed shows. 

  • Contact artist representation for concert availability.

  • Utilize company systems for creation, distribution, maintenance, and tracking of events information. 

  • Be present during the event and settle events, as necessary. 

  • Communicate budget allocations, creative direction, and demographics with marketing and venue staff.

  • Keep Event Management Software (EMS) up to date as the calendar develops. Manage and maintain venue calendars.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Applicable experience with sales interactions and/or buying.

  • Experience developing and maintaining community relationships is preferred.

  • Willingness to work unconventional hours as job duties demand.

  • The ability to solve problems and deal with situations with standardization may not exist.

  • Ability to use critical reasoning skills and metrics to make informed decisions.

  • Excellence organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to adapt and be flexible.

  • Professional and friendly demeanor throughout client interactions.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and on the telephone. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle and operate computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
